Can't remember the line up at all except Ian Beveridge on guitar, who I once met on New Year's Eve in Glasgow and freaked him out by questioning him intensively about chord progressions on their first Peel session. Whoops. |

Mackenzies were from Glasgow and this their first record. A few weeks later their legendary 1st Peel Session went out and was repeated seven times, which they claim is a record. Not sure. Probably. Why would they lie? For some reason Mackenzies wound people up, even those who liked Big Flame. But anyway New Breed is one of the finest singles of the era. Skewed and messy funk. |
